The unit is about 2.6" by 2.6" by 1.1" tall and can easily sit on top of the receiver or on the side.
Here is some information on the original Nakamichi RC-4
On the front is a Infrared window through which you can see a Power/Activity LED. The LED stays lit when powered and blinks off when a System Remote Command is received.
Receiver1/2/3, RE-1/2/3/10, AV-2/7/8/10, CA-1, IA-1z and several other newer receivers it connects to the "System Remote Output" and on the Music Bank MB-2, CD Player 1/2 it connects to the "Sync Rec Out" into remote commands for the Classic Nakamichi tape
When used with the Receiver1/2/3, RE-1/2/3/10, AV-2/7/8/10, CA-1 and IA-1z you can control the following commands from the remote: Play, Stop, F.F., Rewind, Pause, Record and Reverse Play on the Dragon or Flip on the RX-series. The Cue button is not supported. When used with the Sync Rec Out on the Music Bank MB-2 and CD Player 1/2 it will only do the Sync Record functions mentioned in the CD players manual.
